Rock Climbing…

Here’s something that I don’t know if I’ve ever shared… I love mountain climbing documentaries, but the kind where a disaster happens, you know like how a climber’s body ends up being left on Everest… kind of thing… they scare me in a roller coaster type of way.

So I watched The Dark Wizard which is about Dean Potter who was a world famous rock climber known for his free climbing, meaning he didn’t use any equipment to keep himself from falling to his death. He didn’t use any! He did  this all over the word but loved Yosemite National Park. Then he started diving off cliffs with a Wing suit which looks a lot like a Sugar Glider.

You know from the beginning that there’s going to be a tragedy but you don’t know how. It’s four episodes on HBO.

I can not recommend this more. It’s so good but the entire time you have that feeling that you’re tick tick tick ticking up the roller coaster before the descent. Your tummy flutters from the jump. So well made. You’re gonna feel like you and Dean are Buds. Which is the kick in the gut part.

Watch this, seriously.

We showed Josh the song Iron Man by Black Sabbath and Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult…., Both of those were released in 1970…. First…. WHAT THE FUCK? I remember driving by The Spokane Opera House and Black Sabbath was there so my mom clutched her pearls about how she heard they were satanic.   This is the same woman who wouldn’t let me go to an REO SPEEDWAGON concert because she heard that people would have sex in the isles. I swear to God….But then they stopped parenting and I went to Judas Priest and AC|DC and Metallica’s “ Kill ‘em All” tour….Scorpions… lots more

My point…. First Joshua’s jaw dropped open, apparently he didn’t realize that metal was that old… omg, so fucking old… He loved them…. And finally… both of those songs scare me. There’s something in the music that makes my heart jump out my chest…. And I fucking love that!!

To this day, the sound of Godzilla makes my brain freak out and I love Godzilla movies and that Monarch Series on Apple TV… super good, by the way.

I love the flippity flappity of my heart based solely on a sound or a documentary.

Song….Make You Feel My Love … you can go with the Adele version but it was the Bonnie Raitt version that I’d drown my sorrows in back in the day. Cheryl and I listened to that album all day long on a ten day vacation up Highway 101. Then I had to buy it and my kids can sing every single line! Listen, some songs become therapeutic. I even started my Blog because of that song, hoping it might be read by him….

Luv ya!
